Your first session
Taking the step into counselling can feel daunting, especially if it is your first time. Here is a clear guide on what to expect, how we will work together, and how to get started in a calm, non-judgemental space.

What to expect when we meet
Our first session is all about getting to know each other and establishing a comfortable, confidential space where meaningful change can happen. We will look through a straightforward client agreement together, discuss what you hope to gain from counselling, and clarify what you can expect from me. There are no expectations or pressures—we move entirely at your pace.

Come just as you are
You do not need to have everything figured out or prepare notes before turning up. Some clients arrive with specific goals or challenges in mind, while others simply know something feels heavy or off balance. Wherever you are starting from, we will explore it together and gently build our therapeutic journey from that point onward.

Practical details and next steps
Sessions last 50 minutes. In-person therapy takes place at the same quiet room in Tonbridge at a recurring time each week. If you prefer online sessions, these are conducted securely via Microsoft Teams, with your meeting link emailed to you on the morning of your appointment. To take the next step, simply get in touch via the contact details or using the form.
